In order to show that Steven is not impressed by the behaviour of Owen he says, He cant sleep at night. Sometimes he sleeps during the day so its night for day for him (160). The author tries to show how Steven is frustrated by these continuous calls which apparently are made between six and seven every day when wholly is supposed to be concentrating on family chores such as preparing dinner for them.
